The birdlife at the sugar factory

Experience the rich birdlife at the former Stege Sugar Factory's soil pools. The old soil pools are today a valuable nature area and we will walk between the many pools, looking at the birds that are present - especially the different waterbirds that either rest or breed in the area. We will also take a look for birds in Stege Bay just outside the pools. This tour is suitable for beginners, as we will experience many of the birds from a short distance. The sooil pools are worth a visit all year round. In the winter, we will experience the many thousands of Tufted Duck's that are resting in the pools. Among the Tufted Ducks's we look for Pochards, Greater Scaups, mergansers and Coots and what other birds may be present at the time. In the summer we will experience the breeding birds, e.g. three species of grebes, different dabbling ducks. In the reeds and brink vegetation we will hear singing Reed Warblers and Reed Buntings.
